Read this on Dango.co It took me 15 years to learn what I’m about to share with you in the next few minutes. It’s a simple 5-step framework that helped me transform my body, business, and life. Whether I was aiming for 10% body fat, building a brand, or growing a company, this strategy was at the core of it all. It's also a technique used by SpaceX, Navy Seals, and almost every Fortune 500 company. It’s called the Law of Constraints—and if you take it seriously, it will change your life. You ready? Let's go 🚀 The Law of Constraints: How to Make Getting Healthy AutomaticWhen it comes to getting in shape, you are always one constraint away from achieving the goal faster. We need to identify the constraint, use a system to eliminate it, and integrate a new identity so we can make our goals an inevitability. That system is the Law of Constraints. Here's how to do it. Step 1: Identify the Constraint
“A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.” - Eliyahu M. Goldratt from The Goal Most people try to overhaul their entire lives at once. They change their diet, start a new workout plan, meditate, and journal, and somehow, they still spin their wheels. Why? Because they’re ignoring the main constraint—the biggest bottleneck stopping them from progressing. Take John, for example. He joined our coaching program to lose the dad bod and get his body back. His #1 constraint? Nighttime binge eating. He had no issues controlling what he ate during the day. But when it came to dinner, all bets were off. His appetite was out of control. This was the one constraint that, if eliminated, would make achieving the goal automatic. Whether it’s food, business, or life—if you don’t fix the bottleneck, you’re just dragging a 20-pound ball and chain uphill. The first step is the most important: identifying the obstacle holding you back from achieving the desired results. Step 2: Exploit the Constraint
"If you don’t know what you’re reacting to, you’ll keep reacting to it forever." — Dan Go (yes, I just quoted myself) Once you know your constraint, dig deep. Ask yourself,
Back to John—his binge eating wasn’t just about food. Yes, he skipped meals early in the day, but emotionally, it went deeper. As a kid, he was neglected by his parents and bullied by his siblings. At night, food was comfort. Understanding the trigger gave us the power to fix it at the root. This means that when you know where it comes from, you can peel the onion to find out what triggered it in the first place. Step 3: Focus
"What's the ONE Thing you can do such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary?" - Gary Keller, From the One Thing Once you identify the main constraint, put everything else on hold. John didn’t need a new training plan. He needed structure and accountability. So we got him on a meal schedule, hit his protein and fiber targets, and made sure he had his last meal by 6:30 p.m (and held his ass accountable to it). We supported him by addressing the physical and emotional triggers. We didn’t try to fix everything—just the thing that mattered most. Instead of trying to change everything at once, we want to focus on the one domino that would make the goal practically irrelevant. When you focus on the right constraint, the path becomes clearer and faster. Step 4: Evolve
"Every action is a vote for the person you want to become" - James Clear Real change doesn’t stick unless your identity evolves with it. John had to start thinking like the guy who already had abs. How does that guy eat? How does he train? What are his habits at night? Something I always like to ask myself is, "What would the healthiest version of myself do now?" Too many people chase goals without upgrading who they are. My client, Mark Manson, used to view food as entertainment and drank regularly. But once he connected health with performance, he stopped drinking and shifted his identity to that of a high performer. Once you intend to shift into an identity, every action becomes equal for that identity. Real transformation is both outside-in and inside-out. Action builds identity. Identity drives action. Step 5: RepeatOnce you remove one constraint, guess what? Another one shows up. That’s life. This is the flywheel: Identify → Exploit → Focus → Become → Repeat Maybe next, it’s fixing your sleep. Or lack of movement. Or poor boundaries. Whatever it is, you tackle it one constraint at a time. And yes—it takes time. Six months to a year per major constraint is realistic. The magic to this is that fixing constraints compounds much like removing 20 pounds from your pack every time you climb higher. Eventually, nothing is holding you back. You move faster. Think clearly. Live better. Make Success AutomaticHow people think about getting healthy or achieving anything in life is thinking about the things that they have to do. I have to do this. I have to do that. I have to add this to my life. The reality is that success is very much about removing the things that are in your way to prevent you from becoming successful in the first place. The Law of Constraints makes your success inevitable: 1. Identify the bottleneck Treat this as something you return to every six months to a year. Systematically get rid of things that hold you back. Do this and see your success compound. Onward and upward. 🚀 - Dan When you're ready, here is 1 way I can help: 1. Promote yourself to 425,318+ subscribers by sponsoring this newsletter.
